wombatie Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 Early last year I managed to buy some 2.5mm BB ply. It was only 1 foot x 4 feet so not a very big piece, it cost me about $55. Well I have slowly reduced the size and don't have much left so I rang to order some more and you know what I was told???????????????? THEY DON'T MAKE IT ANY MORE. And there is no where else I can get it from, spent a fair chunk of time on the computer today trying to find some. It was THE best ply I have ever had.   Marg Quote
Rob Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 I feel your pain Marge. The cost of materials and paint etc here still makes me wince. I gave things away to save room in the container that I now bitterly regret. I try not to think about it too much! Rob wombatie 1 Quote

If you can find a shop which supplies model aircraft construction parts, they should stock ply from about 1mm through to 3 or 4mm. This might depend on the dimensions you're looking for. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Rob Roy. Edited July 19, 2016 by Rob Roy Jim Finn and wombatie 2 Quote

Lucky2 Posted July 20, 2016 Report Posted July 20, 2016 Marg, ain't that always the way things go, you find something you like and need and it's no longer available. If it would help, I could mail you three or four pieces of 1/8" baltic birch plywood. It would take some time to get there, and, I don't think postage would be to bad for four pieces. Let me know if you want it. Len Quote

I cleared customs with some thinner pieces because it didn't have live edges or and seeds on it. Like I said before hindsight is a wonderful thing. Marg Quote
grosa Posted July 22, 2016 Report Posted July 22, 2016 (edited) Marg, we throw away a lot of scrap 1/4" maple, Sapele, black melamine and some Cherry. What sizes are you looking for? If there is a cabinet shop or woodworking shop near you I bet they wouldn't mind giving you what they would normally throw away. Edited July 22, 2016 by grosa Quote

Maybe I'm wrong but, I think you have more than one customer for your scrap. If nothing else, members could pay for shipping. Post it in Hot Deals & Announcements Quote
grosa Posted July 23, 2016 Report Posted July 23, 2016 (edited) You guys would have to come up with a size that is not to small and not to big for shipping. I'm thinking flat rate box sizes? Edited July 23, 2016 by grosa Quote

I do not know if it will be cost effective or not though - http://aircraftproducts.wicksaircraft.com/viewitems/aircraft-plywood/metric-birch-plywood DW DW I have sent them and email regarding postage if they ship to Australia. The $38.68US = $51.84 AU and the $68.24 US = $91.45 AU. I have seen some postage costs on Ebay for over $200 AU which is a bit rich for some plywood. Marg Marg Quote
