Rob Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 Had my second craft fair on Sunday. There was a reasonable turnout despite drizzly weather. Lots of nice comments but a little harder to get people to actually buy. Nonetheless I did reasonably well. This is a collage of my stall so sorry it's a bit jumbled. For next time, I will make my display stand a little higher to get more display area and make a few more moderately priced items but in quantity. Gordster Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 Nice display Rob, yes you never know what they want.Sometimes the thing you least expect to sell goes first. Quote
Iguanadon Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) Nicely done Rob. Speaking as a first year newbie at having a booth, you will learn something or realize something each week as you get familiar with how people shop, etc. My 2 cents to you... have a nice variety of items. People enjoy stopping and looking and the more they have to look at, the more likely they are to spot something that clicks for them. I know what my top 10 dog breeds are that I sell, but I put out 45-50 different breeds just because people like to see the wide variety and they challenge me "I bet you don't have a Great Dane!" I bet I do. :-) Same with the zoo animals... I could simply put out the Giraffe and Elephant and sell them all day long, but I have a dozen other animals on display and you never know what will sell as Gordie said... I had someone buy a Piglet this past Saturday... "Oh look at that, my girlfriend absolutely adores pigs, I have to get this for her..." Good luck and have fun. Oh, and P.S. - If I had a dollar for every time someone raved about my items and how amazing they are, but then turn and walk away without buying something, I'd be RICH!!! It's all part of the game. munzieb Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 Nice display! You mentioned you had a lot of dog displays. Have you thought of visiting you local vet with dog cuttings? Lots of owners would love a representation of their dog. You can add a name to the plaque or custom cut with name. You can cut a deal with the vet on the price to hang them there. WayneMahler 1 Quote
Lucky2 Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 Thanks Iggy. I do enjoy it. I wish I could find an old treadle saw to demonstrate on but I have yet to find one down here. Rob Rob, you could buy a set of plans and build your own treadle saw. It would probably be cheaper to go that way, and you would probably get to own a treadle quicker. Len Quote
Ron Johnson Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) Nice display Rob. Glad you did reasonably well. It's a good thing you took back with you on how to improve display and etc. for next show. Having some sort of activity going on in a booth attracts attention which in turn attracts more attraction. And as you know people need to satisfy their curiosity. Edited September 27, 2016 by Ron Johnson Rob 1 Quote

WayneMahler Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 Nice display. Yes it is tough to figure out what will or will not sell. I try to keep a variety of items. I also display custom orders accepted. Some shows are better for sales and other are better for custom work. I do require a non refundble deposit due to being bit too many times. Keep up the nice work. Rob 1 Quote
woodduck Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 A nice display Rob. Yes you never know what will sell & what won't ,I found you have to have a good range of goods & some cheaper priced articles as well. Rob 1 Quote
NC Scroller Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 Nice assortment. Be patient. Sometimes thing sell almost off the saw and other times 6 years later. Sales will likely increase closer to Christmas. I sell items from $3 to $50 with most items in the $20 to $30 range. If you continue to focus on quality and not quantity the sales will come. Rob My thought's are give and take.Give them some trivial item and in turn they may be prompted to give you some cash for one of your better items Rob 1 Quote
