MrsN Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 This week is the Ryder Cup. It is a big golf tournament between the USA and Europe, that happens every 2 years alternating between courses in the US and Europe. This year the tournament is at the Hazeltine Golf Course in Chaska, MN. Which is where I moved earlier this year. It is such a big deal that school has been closed for the week. Anybody following the sport? Quote
WayneMahler Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 Enjoy the game. Follow a lot of sports, golf isn't one of them though. Atleast not as much as baseball, Football and Hockey. I have played in quite a few tournaments though Quote

Kepy Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 You are lucky to be able to attend. Once upon a time when I was teaching in TX and had passes to the Houston Open, I wanted to see the pro-am but it is always on Wed. Called in sick and went but managed to steer clear of the TV cameras as didn't want to show on the evening sports. Did get some sunburn however, so had to tell everyone the next day that I had a very high fever. Don't think they bought it. Quote

Hi Kepy: Calling in sick to go to an event is different than closing down an establishment. At least you had a choice Was it worth it??? Fab4 Quote
Debi Shipman Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 Baseball, football (college and NFL) and college basketball... no golf. It's nice to let the kids out of school so they (or the teachers) can attend without falling behind or missing something. Quote
bandaideman Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 I used to play and followed then but not kept up since my heros have aged and stopped. I don't know the new pros hardly at all. I remember in the mid 70's when I was going to the Medical College of Georgia however that the week of the Masters was the same the schools closed for the week and the College could not technically close but we had Independent study time because there is no way you could get across town for class or even library. Also I found it strange but several in the community would leave for the week and rent their house out to TV castors and others who would pay well for he home for the week instead of hotel or finding a room.
