My new school takes 6th graders on a 3 day 2 night field trip to a nature conservation reserve. Many times there is snow on the ground when they go, but this week we lucked out with days in the 50s and nights in the 30s. The kids got to do lots of hiking through the woods and learned about survival skills like fire starting. Also did some pioneer skills like team sawing and hatchet throwing.

One of my favorite things was the observation tower. On top of the biggest hill is a 55 foot tower with great views.

Observation towers are pretty bare bone construction.i got to the second story and clung to the railing in fear I heard noises from above only to figure out little kids made it to the top.I said if they could do it im going to do it too.I finally made it white knuckled and white faced to the top.?For what ever reason there was a bath tub 6 storys up?any way i started rocking the tower to scare the kids and sure enough those brave little guys begged me to stop, please mister don't,yes sweet revenge, how brave are you now,lol

Glad you got to go on the trip with them and you had good weather.  I know my kids always loved when they got to go on trips like that from school.  Thanks for sharing your photos.  Looks like you enjoyed it as much as the kids.
