Frank Pellow Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 The pattern I would like to find (and to pay for, if necessary) would look something like the attached but would be more complex. I was able to find a couple of patterns of the sort I would like but they featured fishing. I just want a scene with one or two folks paddling on a body of water with evergreen trees on the shoreline. Once I find a cut the scene it will form part of a collage which will also contain photos of me paddling with some of my grandchildren. Quote

Frank Pellow Posted January 16, 2017 Author Report Posted January 16, 2017 Thanks Katie, I did not spot them there even though I looked.. 'Somewhere' is good enough for me to use (although there is only one paddler). 'Somewhere 2' has kayaks, not canoes, but I might be able to modify it. Quote
RangerJay Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Would you prefer an image from one of Ontario's canoeing areas or waterways? .... If so you might want to consider a Googled image - then the making or hiring of the pattern by one of the Villages pattern makers - if this might work then Google: "Canoeing in Quetico", "Canoeing in Algonquin", "Canoeing in Killarney" or just "Canoeing in 'whatever your favourite Ontario canoeing destination is .....' " - you will find literally thousands of images. Be interested to see what you come up with. Jay Quote
angeleyes3853 Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 I am new to the Scrollsaw world but how would you cut out the portraits Quote
ChelCass Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 Frank in the library there is a pattern of two men in a canoe fishing. I believe you could easily delete the fishing pole and fish. The pattern is by grandpa dated Jul 09, 2013. It doesn't have a name but is under the scenic section. Judy Quote

Frank Pellow Posted January 17, 2017 Author Report Posted January 17, 2017 Judy (ChelCass), thanks for the suggestion. But, I looked at the pattern you mention and, after you remove the fish, you are not left with much. Besides, the two guys would be facing each other in the canoe and that is not what I want. Quote
Frank Pellow Posted January 17, 2017 Author Report Posted January 17, 2017 Jay, that's a great suggestion. I will see if I can find something that I think could be converted to a pattern that will fit the bill. Quote
Frank Pellow Posted January 17, 2017 Author Report Posted January 17, 2017 (edited) OK, following Jay's suggestion I did a scan for images that I think might be turned into a scroll saw pattern. I concentrated on painting rather than photos because I think they art more suited to such a conversion. My choice is the attached painting entitled 'Pickerel River, Quetico' by Dave Oh. I cropped part of that image and it is attached. I guess that it would be best to start a new thread to draw the attention of anyone who might be willing to convert it for me. Here is a link to the thread that I started for that request: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/topic/22606-asking-for-someone-to-convert-this-canoeing-image-to-a-scroll-saw-pattern/ Edited January 17, 2017 by Frank Pellow Quote
Birchbark Posted January 18, 2017 Report Posted January 18, 2017 Frank have you decided on what exactly you'd like? do you want something like the first image you posted? A cut the white type thing, or did you want that last image you posted turned into a pattern? How big is the pattern you were wanting to make? I'd rather attempt something exactly like what you'd want. Russell Quote
worbler Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 I'm currently working on something for this request but I probably won't finish it until tomorrow, currently Thursday here, so probably Friday evening. Hopefully it's along the lines of what is required. Quote
Frank Pellow Posted January 19, 2017 Author Report Posted January 19, 2017 Birchbark, either one would be good. The size that I would like would be about 25cm by 15cm (or 10" by 6"). Worbler, I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Quote
worbler Posted January 20, 2017 Report Posted January 20, 2017 OK, time to deliver. It's somewhat different to what I would normally do. Hopefully it's of some use to you. If not, someone else may want to use it. Phantom Scroller, JimErn, ChelCass and 3 others 6 Quote
Frank Pellow Posted January 20, 2017 Author Report Posted January 20, 2017 Thank you Timothy. I will definitely use it. But, I will eliminate one of the canoes. ChelCass 1 Quote
Frank Pellow Posted March 1, 2017 Author Report Posted March 1, 2017 As promised, I did make use of Timothy's pattern. See the thread: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/topic/23222-canoes-on-lake-pivabiska/ Birchbark 1 Quote
