so i forgot to do some kerning to a pattern im making, I've already made my text a path, grouped it, edited it, made bridges etc. and when i try to go back to create some spaces. it won't let me, it wants to edit nodes and wont allow me to do any kerning. Is there anyway to do this without scraping all the editing i did and starting over?

Thanks for the suggestions. Sadly nothing that i have tried will let me do what i want to do. When i try to do anything, the double click action just brings up the node editor. I think at this point im' just gonna have to grin and bear it and redo the font and all the editing from scratch. but thanks again for the help as always!

One thing I've really learned the hard way about working in a technological environment that is often beyond my comfort level - is that when you screw up it usually means a lot of painful and horribly time-consuming backtracking - which - often can be mitigated with some very old-fashioned techniques - namely - print what you got - then do a bit of literal cutting and pasting .....it always works ......

thanks, but i finally just sucked it up and redid the font, Funny enough, it took me way less time just starting over than it did to research how to fix it for the past two days. lol

Once you turn the text into a path, you can't do any more kerning.  The letters, in essence, turns into objects, not letters.  If the letters are grouped, you can ungroup them and move each letter individually.  If they're not grouped, the words might be one object.  So instead, you'll have to break them apart (Path>Break Apart).  This will make each shape and will make your letters look like big blobs.  Select all the components that make up that letter and combine them (Path>Combine) to make it look like a regular letter.  Now each letter is separate and can move them individually.
