Kevin Latimer Posted February 18, 2017 Report Posted February 18, 2017 so i forgot to do some kerning to a pattern im making, I've already made my text a path, grouped it, edited it, made bridges etc. and when i try to go back to create some spaces. it won't let me, it wants to edit nodes and wont allow me to do any kerning. Is there anyway to do this without scraping all the editing i did and starting over? Quote
Fab4 Posted February 18, 2017 Report Posted February 18, 2017 Hi Kevin: Can you do a TRACE BITMAP of your current pattern If so, you would be able to make the changes required Fab4 Quote

Phantom Scroller Posted February 19, 2017 Report Posted February 19, 2017 I go back to text tool click in front of letter hold down Alt key and press arrow keys left or right while holding Alt and Alt key and the bracket keys to tilt left and right. Roly Quote
Kevin Latimer Posted February 20, 2017 Author Report Posted February 20, 2017 Thanks for the suggestions. Sadly nothing that i have tried will let me do what i want to do. When i try to do anything, the double click action just brings up the node editor. I think at this point im' just gonna have to grin and bear it and redo the font and all the editing from scratch. but thanks again for the help as always! Quote

RangerJay Posted February 20, 2017 Report Posted February 20, 2017 (edited) One thing I've really learned the hard way about working in a technological environment that is often beyond my comfort level - is that when you screw up it usually means a lot of painful and horribly time-consuming backtracking - which - often can be mitigated with some very old-fashioned techniques - namely - print what you got - then do a bit of literal cutting and pasting .....it always works ...... Don thanks, but i finally just sucked it up and redid the font, Funny enough, it took me way less time just starting over than it did to research how to fix it for the past two days. lol Quote
Travis Posted February 21, 2017 Report Posted February 21, 2017 Once you turn the text into a path, you can't do any more kerning. The letters, in essence, turns into objects, not letters. If the letters are grouped, you can ungroup them and move each letter individually. If they're not grouped, the words might be one object. So instead, you'll have to break them apart (Path>Break Apart). This will make each shape and will make your letters look like big blobs. Select all the components that make up that letter and combine them (Path>Combine) to make it look like a regular letter. Now each letter is separate and can move them individually.
