kardar2 Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 I am doing a family tree and I put in a request for an album cover over at (request a pattern) buuttttt...... Would any of you have some ideas about making a album I know you can make your own scrap book or should I just go buy a 3 ring binder with those self adhesive pages I really want something that will last a long time. I don't know any one that does scrap booking so I turned to you. thanks for all your input Quote
Helenm2807 Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 Hi Karl, I'm not sure if this would be any help but I made this box for my sister for Christmas. The spine itself is solid wood but the hinge is leather. I was thinking you could perhaps make a 'box' with no long edge opposite the spine so that there is support for the front and you can turn the pages. One of those bendy metal file things would hold the pages in place ... if you wanted pages. It's a thought. H. Quote
Messman Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 I have been playing with a design over the past year or so (it's not on the top of my to do list so it gets pushed back all the time) of a 100% wooden photo album that would work as a scrap book as well where the cover has been scrolled. Give me some time to dig up my file and I will let you see what I have done with it so far. Maybe you can finish it up. Quote
shadylady0447 Posted April 3, 2010 Report Posted April 3, 2010 At one time I saw a blank wooden album at the craft store Michaels. It had a piano hinge on the front cover and 3 holes on the side for the screw pegs that the pages would fit in. It looked very easy to design. There are a couple of designs similar to it....one you can see in the June 2007 Creative Woodworks and Crafts: http://www.woodworksandcrafts.com/issue ... ne07.shtml Hope this helps you. Quote
kardar2 Posted April 4, 2010 Author Report Posted April 4, 2010 Hello, I had a friend tell me about snapfish.com they make books soft or hard back covers. You the color and size of the book and add the pictures and text and they print it and bind it very high quality. that way you don't have to worry about losing or damaging the photos. Quote
