jblock9907 Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 I have a Dewalt 788 and a few days ago it started knocking. After a little research the screw that is on the vertical assembly was loose and the nut was gone. I replaced the screw, tightened everything up and began to saw. The speed of the blade was very slow. I tried to adjust it using the knob. My saw now has only 2 speeds, slow and very slow. Cannot increase the speed. Any suggestions???? Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 Sounds like you might have tightened it a little too tight. Try backing off that tightness on that nut a little bit. How old is your saw btw? DW Quote
jblock9907 Posted March 28, 2017 Author Report Posted March 28, 2017 Thanks. I will try that. A little over 2 years old. I tried harsh language and when that didn't work I knew it had to be something a little more serious. MTCowpoke22 1 Quote

jblock9907 Posted March 30, 2017 Author Report Posted March 30, 2017 You tube was the first place I went to. That how I found out how to repair the knocking. Couldn't find anything that addressed the variable speed. Quote
Dan Posted March 31, 2017 Report Posted March 31, 2017 I had a slow motor problem with a Craftsman saw and it ended up being the motor and motor control board. I hope this isn't your problem. Is it under warranty? Quote
ike Posted March 31, 2017 Report Posted March 31, 2017 It could be in the speed control .or the motor. IKE Quote
