oldhudson Posted April 3, 2017 Report Posted April 3, 2017 (edited) Here’s a project I did this winter as part of our lower level remodeling effort. (The joys of being an empty nester.) This is a window seat / storage area I finished a few weeks ago now. The frame was standard 2 x 4 stock. The face frame was made from standard big box poplar doweled together. The seat was birch pw (not BB), I doweled 2†poplar edging to all 4 sides. The doors are frame and panel construction, with poplar frames. I used fake beadboard paneling (formed and painted Masonite). It was a bright white (that stuff always is and my sweetie didn’t like it so it was painted brown – well she didn’t like that either. So in the end we bought some fabric at JoAnne’s and Mod Podge’d to the panel. The stain was General Finishes (Java 2 coats) and top coat was also a General Finishes product (Gel Top Coat – a urethane mixture 3 coats). Phew!
