Scrappile Posted July 22, 2017 Report Posted July 22, 2017 My posts lately have been just me rambling, because I have nothing new accomplished to show or discuss. I am working on and finishing some items, but this is what I do when I am waiting to finish to dry. So, two and a half or so years ago, I had to put my Dobie down. He was pretty much my dog. Would even get upset when my wife came around me. By the way, Dobies are just plan awesome dogs, I have raised 3 over the years and if it were just me, I would have no other dog... I think the reason the last one, Alex, became so obsessed with me was the kids were grown up and gone, so I was his family. I gave him the most attention. The other super awesome dogs we have had over the years, (50 years married, we have had many dogs, we both love dogs), is Airedale Terriers. The first one my wife brought home, she took it for a co-worker that could not provide a home for it any longer. We had never heard of Airdales. What a loving character old Max was. BIG even for an Airdale. I always said I could have hit old Max in the head with a brick and he would have loved me for it! Brings tears to my eves to remember him. We have had three of them over the years now. Just great fun dogs. Loyal, friendly to all none threatening things, but protective of family. Tomorrow we are going to look at a new Airedale puppy. We have a Standard Poodle now, I know, a awesome dog,,,, they are just great, but she needs company, or, so I have been telling my wife. I am so excited, because I know, although my wife is grumbling, saying, we don't need another dog, she is excited as I am. She even called the people after I showed her the ad. Our last Airedale was one of her favorites, clams she was her dog although I know all our dogs liked me best.... I mean the kids are gone, and far away. We don't get to see our grandkids much.... come on what are we to do. We have had many dogs, many breeds, and mutts, all awesome. I love dogs. Probably too much, I could live with just dogs as friends. I really believe dogs are one of Gods most wonderful gifts. If we get the new Airedale, I get to name him.... it will be "Reagan", I could not get my wife to go for "the Gipper". Signed, Dog Lover. Mark SW, Rob and Phantom Scroller 3 Quote

Scrappile Posted July 25, 2017 Author Report Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) Well,,, my wife came out on top on that one. I kinda convinced her to go see the puppies by saying something like "look how many quilting shops we could stop at on the way there and back"... I think it was like 8 quilting shops I sat in the car, in the 90'+ heat, for at least 1/2 hour... each,, while she, in an air conditioned shop talked and looked at quilting, just to go see some puppies that were, well, not what we wanted in an Airedale. Oh, my, 73 years old, 50 years married and I have not won one yet!!!!!!!! And, WHY, are there a ratio of 1 to 1000 in the number of good wood stores to quilting shops!!!!!!!!!!!. I mean the leaders of the quilting hobby are brilliant! Every year they have this thing where you travel to quilt shops, each quilt shop sells you a certain pattern of something that is the theme for that year. You get prestige for the most and variety you collect, you are bowed to and honored for .. the most, you travel, you collect, you are great in the world of quilts... it never ends, publications of sent out of which shops to stop at and there are maps provided, and it take at least 1/2 hour in each shop, and you can't come out without an arm load of material, and, and, and........ sorry I spent too much time sitting in a hot car, waiting, the keying into the phone for directions to the next,,,,!! OMG!!!!!! Sorry, home, home and on the third little drink of whisky just to settle me. OMG!! all I want is a little puppy to love...... Edited July 25, 2017 by Scrappile wombatie 1 Quote
