amazingkevin Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 Thanks for the tip, some day i'll get to try one but my hands on looking at one at woodcraft turned me off to buying one .Creature comforts were not to my liking.I had a lot of trouble trying to change the blade on the bottom. If i have to spend more than 5 secounds to fasten the bottom blade my blood pressure goes sky high. It's a beautyful saw though, and my favorite color too! There was one on craigs list down here for $350 .They would'nt trade for stuff i had worth double that but i tryed .Still no work for me in 2 years here. Vector01 Posted May 23, 2010 Author Report Posted May 23, 2010 Hi Kevin: I know there are a lot of people interested in the Dewalt. Myself, I'm happy with the Hitachi. After a few minor mods I got it set to my liking. Unfortunately the economy isn't getting any better. I couldn't spend that kinda money unless I was selling enough to recover the cost of the saw. Hopefully in the near future job prospects will be better. Quote
amazingkevin Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Far quite a while i've eyeballed the hitachi at the big box store close by.I would have gotten it but could not find on the box or on the display unit if it took plain or pinned blades. So i passed on it.Only to find out later it does both. Then again while searching for a back up saw i just missed by minutes one at the pawn shop for $80.00.Timeing is everything.I just got a 20"c-arm craftsman and am searching for modifications to it to adapt quick change blade holders to it.Have'nt found anything yet.I think this will be a very good saw for me.The connecting arm that connects the top arm to the bottom arm really wears out fast on these chinese saws.In two years i've gone through 7 saws. They make the pivot points way to small ,and as soon as the arms get a little play in them it's like a knife eating away at the bushings. So this c-arm saw has a one piece arm .so thats a good thing!Don't know why they are discontinued.Don't reinvent the wheel! lol!
