Travis Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 That turned out great! Is that on a glasses case? I didn't know you can do pyro on leather. Good job! Quote
Helenm2807 Posted June 1, 2010 Author Report Posted June 1, 2010 Thanks Travis, Yes its a glasses case. I found out a little while ago that the pyro is good for leather as well. I have to turn the machine down to its lowest setting and the range of shades is more limited but it works. I find it especially handy for making pet identity discs - I have three cats who regularly lose their collars and paying out £6 ($8.00) a time for the new discs was getting expensive. I got some scraps of leather from work and I can turn them out in about 5 minutes a piece. I've done them for friends with dogs as well as the leather stands up to wear and tear quite well. H. Quote

greasemonkeyredneck Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 Ok. I guess I'm the dummy in the bunch. What in sams$#%^ is pyro? It looks beautiful. Now please explain to me how it is done. I don't know what pyro means. Quote

I don't know what pyro means. Its woodburning. It uses a electric tool with different tips to burn the image into the wood. I have one but can not use mine to the degree that Helen achieves. Hope this helps a little, maybe one of the "pyro artist" will chime in to describe it better. This woodburning(pyro) really amazes me. awesome job Quote

I'd heard woodburning called different things, but never that before. SEE? I'm not too old to learn something new. Quote
