A week or two ago Rolf showed pictures to the dust collection he has been working on.  I had been thinking about the need for dust collection.  Seems like the dust has really bothered me lately plus the dust that drifts through the house seems to upset my wife... go figure??

So looking a the set up Rolf had I made myself one.  This is mine, still in work nothing glued up but I did try it last night and it appears to work well.  I want to be able to easily moved because I have tow saws.  Hopefully I can figure how to just transfer it between the two.  But I am pretty pleased.  I will not glue the pieces of the PVC for a while (if ever) so I can make adjustment if required.  I may find I want a trap also..  Wish I had done this years ago.

I also made a auxiliary table for my Seyco so I could have zero clearance inserts like I had on my Excalibur.  To improve the dust collection under the table I find I need to drill some holes in my insert so the dust can flow through.

Many thanks to Rolf for his inspiration

Looks good.  A suggestion would be to change the Tee portion. You appear to have 3/4" PVC going from the Tee in two directions toward your saw. I would make the Tee with.  1-1/2 fittings and connect your vacuum to it and the reducers for the lines to the saw. This will greatly improve the suction at the saw.  I did this with mine which is configured slightly different.

Thanks for the reply and input.  What kind of a vac do you have yours hooked to?  The reason for the 3/4" pipe where mine connects is because it was the best thing I could find would connect to my vac end to.  The 3/4" fits snugly into the vac connection.  There are two things I am concerned about.  1) My vac is brand a new Fein.  I feared I may be "choking" reducing things to 3/4" pipe.  But it doesn't sound like it.  2) I can plug the saw foot pedal into the Fein and it will start the vac when I start the saw and the Fein will turn off 15 seconds after I stop the saw.  That means that when doing fret work it will be turning on and off constantly.   Just doesn't seem like a good thing to me.  I'm thinking when doing fret work I will just plug the foot pedal and the vac into separate inlets and leave the vac run.  On the other hand, I am turning he scroll saw on and off constantly and it does not appear to hurt it..

Really glad for your picture.  I have a Hegner and was thinking how I would make dust collection to it.  Yours looks like a good set up.  I may have to copy...

If you have  two saws, make a collection set up for each one.  Then just move the vac connection from one to the other.  PVC pipe is pretty cheap.

Also, I like your ideas, will have to use them when I make my dust collection.

I have a Festool CT26.  It would be much better to plug the vac hose into the pipe rather than the pipe into the hose.  You are restricting the flow with what you are doing.

I will look at more fittings,  I did buy a 1 1/4" fitting because that is what I measured the outside of the hose connection.  But it was to small to get the hose in it.  11/2" would be a very sloppy fit but maybe I could make a sleeve out of something and fit it in the connection.

You are correct, it well work out better that way.  I was going to try and switch the setup between saws but I don't think what I have would be a good fit for the Hegner.

By the way, wish I was smart enough to dream this stuff up, but this is Rolf's idea and for the Hegner you will notice my setup looking suspiciously like Sycome67's.

The second night scrolling with this set up.  Why did I not do this years ago??  Even not finished as in glued and proper connection, it is such an improvement.  Goodbye box fan and dust all over the place.  Folks this is a new chapter in scrolling, for me.
