  1. Wow. I like it!!!
  2. Those are easy to.make....I make them from 3 mm BB. I design in Lightburn. Just be careful about the size and remember the kerf makes it slightly smaller. In Light burn you can adjust for the kerf.
  3. Very well done Frank !!!
  4. It is great to hear from you and see your work.
  5. I looked at the Scrollnado and just did not work for me. Several folks here have made very good dust collection systems using PVC and LocLine pieces. They have worked well. The hose from my vacuum just plugs into the PVC.
  6. I am celebrating as I have reached the 5 week point which is the half way point. .Hopefully, at ten weeks I will be able to use my foot a little. I have to mention how grateful I am for my wife doing so much. It is difficult for her.
  7. Thank you all for the responses. I really enjoy reading and seeing projects. I think the screws stay in along with the other hardware I already had. I think I need this tee shirt.
  8. Three weeks ago, I had a five hour surgery on my left foot to reconstruct it due to a condition called Charcot. I am now non weight bearing for a total of 10 weeks on that foot. My shop and scroll saw is downstairs with a dozen steps. There is no way to get there. I am really enjoying the projects all of you are posting especially those with more details about how you made them. I desperately want to get back to.some scrolling. This is so different having to rely on my wife for so much. She has been an Angel. I do get around the house with a knee Scooter. The pain in the foot not too bad but have had to stop anti-inflammatory meds so my other parts are hurting. The forum brings me enjoyment. PLEASE KEEP POSTING YOUR PROJECTS!!!!! I am posting two pictures with one showing my foot with about 13 screws and a plate. So far, I have had a type of sturdy padded wrap but get a cast this week.
  9. My wife finished the first book and enjoyed it.
  10. Great deal ! That will be a fine saw for you!
  11. Wow...that is beautiful
  12. I am extremely impressed with those. They are beautiful and required great skill to make!!!!!
  13. I dip in Danish oil and then blow off excess. I let them dry completely, rub top and bottom on brown paper bag, a coat of finishing wax and buffing with drill press. The pieces come out silky smooth.
  14. I seem to make more Reindeer every year a nd people really like them. I have made them from 1" to 8" tall.
  15. I have n Ottlite brand magnifying light and use a 3x lens. I tried 5x but it was too strong. The lens is glass an very good quality. It is not mounted on the saw but next to it.
  16. I have started marking what kind of board is by putting the name on the edge and ends. It helps a lot.
  17. It is also available on Kindle Unlimited for $0.
  18. My best for the year was this horse and rider Intarsia that was made for my Granddaughter.
  19. I do mainly Intarsia and some 3d compound cuts. I typically use a skip tooth blade like the FD Polar blades. I really like the PS Woods Super Sharps. IMHO they are the best for cutting 3/4" wood. BUT...they are the most expensive blades. They are $9.99 for a dozen at Woodcraft or $0.83 each. The FD Polar are $4.12 a dozen at Mikes Workshop or $0.34 each. For some things the Super Sharps are worth it. For some of the woods that I cut for Intarsia, none of the blades last long. I try to change blades as soon as they start to get dull. If I do not change then the ability to cut on one side of a line becomes very difficult. Just as an explanation, if I cut exactly on the line for every piece, I start to get gap problems fitting things together. Each piece will be slightly under size and the builds up when you have many pieces. If I cut on one side of the line, the pieces to together much better. A sharp blade and magnifying light make this easier.
  20. Thought this might be interesting or useful. Klingspor is a great source for everything sanding.
  21. For sanding small things, I sometimes use my Dremel. The small drum sander accessories work on some things and have diameters from 1/4-1/2". On the small compound cut Reindeer, I used the Dremel with the abrasive fiber sanding wheels.
  22. Wow...another outstanding piece of art!!
  23. Well done !
  24. It seems every year I need to make more Reindeer as I give so many away. The small ones are about 1-1/2" tall and cut on my Hegner saw from Poplar, Walnut and Cherry. The tall ones are about 7" tall and sawed on my Rikon 10" bandsaw from a 4x4 Cedar post. All were then sanded by hand and the little ones are difficult for my arthritic hands. I have also attached a photo of some I made a few years ago to see how small l could make a reindeer. It looks like the smallest I made was just under 1/2".
