NC Scroller Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 There are two great children nativity puzzles by Paul Meisel in the Winter 2017 issue of Scrollsaw Woodworking. The magazine called for using 2 x 12. I did not have a 2 x 12 but had access to some 2 x 10. Anyway if you copy the patterns at 97% it reduces it enough (roughly 1/4") to just fit on a 2 x 10. BTW I checked at my local Lowes and the shortest 2 x 12's they sold were 10'. The shortest 2 x 10's they had are 8'. Figure each puzzle will take a linear foot of wood. Lucky2 1 Quote

What about gluing two boards together? If you have a good straight edge it would be very hard to tell where the glue joint is. Quote
JOE_M Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 Is that issue on newsstands yet, or just early delivery to subscribers? Quote

Yes you could edge glue a couple 2 x 6's or 2 x 4's if you had to but 2X lumber is fairly cheap so the effort to joint and glue the lumber would not really be worth it to me. Quote

My only "newsstands" are HD and Lowes. We lost our last real bookstore over a year ago (and Horror Freight just moved into their old building.) My Lowes had the Summer issue still out on Monday when I was in there, I'll look again next time I run into town. Quote
