Chunkthekid Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 I have run into a few warped pieces that came through the mail from Ocooch Hardwoods. Just the thinner, larger boards. I am in no way faulting Ocooch. I understand the change in pressure/humidity/etc. from Wisconsin to Kansas is going to do some things that just can't be helped. My question to you is, what's the best way to go about getting this 12x24 piece of 1/4 red oak flat again. I do not plan on using the whole piece for one project. So would it be better to cut out a section I want to use and then try to get the warp out? Or do it as one piece? I am open to any and all ideas, I am sure there are hundreds! Thanks in advance Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 Flip it over so that the warping is top and put a weight on it it will take a while as the wood acclimated to Kansas and might straighten. or it might not hard to say. DW Quote
jerry1939 Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 I use a lot of 1/4" oak also. Have learned to buy 1/4" X 1 1/2" and glue them together. It's makes my life a lot easier. Usually I need to stare a while to find the glue joints in the finished piece. No one else can find them. Hope this helps Friend. IF you have the equipment, cut your piece into strips. Flip every other one over & glue them back together. jerry amazingkevin 1 Quote
