    You are far from the only one. I've got folders full of them and I can never decide what I want to cut next. Even multiple patterns I've paid for that I haven't gotten around to cutting yet. I like to have a big selection because I gravitate towards looking at a piece of wood and finding out what pattern would look best on it, instead of picking a pattern and then trying to find a good piece of wood to work with it. I definitely collect them faster than I cut them.

    Finished up this cut for a friend today. It's his pit bull Big Boy. Cut from 1/4" butternut with FD New Spiral 2/0 blades. Mounted on 5/8" pine stained ebony. Big thanks to Mahendra for the awesome pattern!

    I do most of my holes with a dremel and dremel drill press. Works great, but on larger projects there are spaces it won't reach. Then I just use my trusty eyes to (hopefully) drill straight down by hand. I've been wanting a larger drill press for a long time and now that I have one, I honestly don't thing I will ever use it to drill pilot holes.

    I've been wanting to cut these for a long time and I finally got it done. The Wichita Flag has become really popular around here recently as a way to show some local pride.

    I started with a Dewalt and I love it. Of course I have nothing to compare it to but I also have no complaints. Like Darryl said, the lifter is a must. I waited for about 6 months before I finally got one, and within an hour it was already a part of my tension/turn off/ move to the next hole routine. I don't even realize I'm using it most of the time now, its just second nature.

    My Dewalt table was looking pretty rough, so I decided I would clean it up while I was cleaning up my new(old) jointer. Sanded it down to 400 grit, then a paste wax polish. It looks and slides better than it did when I got it new.

    I was very hesitant the first time I cut acrylic, but I used the FD polar like you and WOW, I couldn't believe how easy it cuts. It makes you realize how much the grain in wood can throw off your blade.

    I will go against the grain on this one. I would use cherry or hard maple. That is what I use 95% of the time on my detailed fret work and I haven't had any problems. For some reason I just never got into using BB for anything but backer boards. I have definitely run into some warping of the wood before the cut but I haven't had any problems after I get the piece finished.

    I finally got this finished up. I've been having some back issues so I've only been able to get a few cuts in at a time. It still needs to be framed and finished but I am definitely glad to get something cut again. 1/8 cherry, FD UR #1 blade

    I've got some but don't use them for scrolling in any way. They do come in handy for multiple other projects, I've always got a few on my bench within arms reach.

    My Aunt wanted coin banks for her grand kids. Just finished them up tonight. No pattern, just kind of made it up as I went. 4/4 cedar with acrylic panels up front and bb backer.

    This is an original pattern made from a picture the client took. It is a picture of a chapel her father built and it will be a Christmas present for him. I'm still not sure of myself in the pattern making department, but I think this turned out ok. 1/4" Maple w/ a stained BB backer. Used mostly FD UR #1, the tiny holes in the roof were done with FD New Spiral 2/0. 10"x10 1/2"

    I am preferable to using 2/0 Flying Dutchman New Spiral blades, when I opt for a spiral. I will cut stock up to 1/4" thick with them, but I wouldn't recommend that. For 1/8" they work great. Like Jim said though, material matters as well. I don't know how they perform if you are cutting ply. I usually cut my detailed fret work in maple, and these blades cut maple like a dream. Whatever you choose, be sure to try them on a few scrap cuts before you dive into a portrait. They take a little getting used to. And same goes for when you switch back to a straight blade. The first time a used a spiral I liked it, so I did a few more projects and got really comfortable with it. Then I went back to a straight blade for another project and about ruined it, but it doesn't take long to get a handle on it.

    One of my first original patterns. Taken from a picture of my niece playing soccer. 1/2" Mahogany, BB Backer, Pine Frame I know isn't very detailed but that's how my sis wanted it. It will be a birthday gift.

    My friend is getting married on Halloween and wanted a Nightmare Before Christmas themed piece. Cut from 1/4" walnut, backed and framed in pine.
