  1. I am supposed to working on some intarsia pieces for Christmas but I had to get this cut for the Halloween challenge. Alex Fox pattern done on 1/2" walnut.
  2. That reaper is insane! Great work.
  3. Very cool.
  4. Unlike the first two commenters, my workshop consists of a scroll saw and ....... that's it. So I buy all of my hardwood in already dimensioned pieces, usually from Ocooch Hardwoods. I look ahead to what projects I may be doing in the near future and order accordingly. I am sure I pay a lot more but I work with what I've got. If you want an easy/cheap hardwood to start with, visit your local big box store and get some poplar. Cheap wood and easy to work with, that way you don't break the bank if you are just "practicing". I keep 1/8" Baltic birch around just to use as a backer for fret work/intarsia projects.
  5. Holy smokes. Well done sir.
  6. That's exactly where my mind went! Haha Good Luck
  7. Thanks for the kind words everyone.
  8. Good work by him and you.
  9. Finished another Alex Fox pattern yesterday. Cut into 1/4 butternut using FD 2/0 spiral reverse blades. I am not a big fan of these blades, they left a very dirty cut. But once I started the project with them I went ahead and used them 'til the end(I bought 6 dozen...oops).
  10. I initial the back of each piece with a wood burner. I also add the year ('17) when I remember.
  11. Very cool clock. Good work.
  12. Great cut! I am cutting one of Alex's patterns in butternut right now as well. Very soft indeed.
  13. Thanks everyone! This will give me something to do today while it rains. I will sit at work and look at all the patterns I wish I was at home cutting.... And I will try not to spend to much $$$ while I look...
  14. Hello ladies and gentleman, I just came across Mike Williams website the other day, and it got me wondering what other websites were out there with patterns that I haven't come across yet. I'm not looking for any pattern specifically, I am just curious where everyone's favorite place to go for patterns is.
  15. Really cool idea!
  16. Cut this trivet over the weekend before I started on my next labor intensive fretwork project. Square Trivet by bobscroll, found in the pattern library. 1/2" padauk, approx. 7"x7", used FD #5 Skip Reverse blades.
  17. Hell of a deal!
  18. I would be honored if you used it. Thank you.
  19. Solid maple
  20. I've been wanting to do one of his patterns since I started using my saw. I can't wait to order some more of his work. Very fun to cut. I used FD 2/0 spiral blades on 1/2 maple. BB backer. Spray poly finish.

  22. I wrote the details of my projects down when I first started but that only lasted for about 4 projects. This site is pretty much my photo journal lol. Anything I've done has been posted on this site with a small description, other than my puzzles, they seem to disappear as soon as they are done. My wife hounds me to keep writing my notes down but that stems from the fact that I never write down a recipe either. I've made dozens of brisket/pork/rib rubs but I have never written anything down. I just get a general idea in my head and wing it.
  23. Thanks everyone!
  24. Welcome Dean. You are in the right place. I bought my first saw 6 months ago and found the village while I was waiting for it to arrive. This place has been key to my progress. There is so much knowledge on this site it blows my mind sometimes. Everyone is friendly and always happy to help with any question you will have.
  25. Portrait of my wife and I from our wedding. I gave it to her Monday on our anniversary and she loved it. Thanks for another great pattern DonR. 1/4 Mahogany with BB backer. Cut with FD #2 spiral blades. It was my first cut with spiral blades but I got used to them pretty quickly.
