  1. Thank you Berry
  2. I have a customer wanting some piggy banks made. They will just be single letters and have a clear plexiglass? window on the front. Is plexiglass the best thing to use in this application? Also, what is the best way to get a clean cut with plexiglass? I have never worked with it before so I am just curious what I am getting into. Any tips will help. Thank You
  3. I adjusted my Dewalt straight out of the box via the adjustable table. I am not sure the angle. I have never used another saw or set up, so I cant attest to the benefits. All I know is that it works for me. I have an adjustable barber stool raised all the way and it keeps me in good posture.... Unless I'm doing some real fine fretwork, then somehow I turn into a pretzel and forget to breathe for 10 minutes.
  4. Very nice! I don't see live edge oak used very often. Beautiful
  5. I usually try to only have one scroll project going at once, but there usually a few other things I'm working on in the shop at the same time. I walk through the door and decide what I feel like messing with that day. That being said, when I do intarsia, I will usually cut a few small fret pieces while I avoid sanding.
  6. Thanks everyone. For those interested, the background is 1/8 BB stained with minwax pickled oak colored with ultra marine pigment.
  7. I finished this up last week and I think I forgot to post. Oops. 1/8 cherry cut with 3/0 FD new spiral blades
  8. You know, I could really get behind a queso pattern...
  9. Great job. He does have some really cool patterns. I will have to add a few to my stack.
  10. That was my thought when I went through my stack of patterns, find something quick and easy instead of diving into another 20 hour fret work piece. I have to remember to take the time for these simple little projects. They are a nice warm up when you have been away from the saw for awhile as well.
  11. I have been trying to get a bunch of projects done outside, so I haven't had much time at the saw lately. There was on and off rain all day yesterday so I decided to cut a quick project. Steve Good pattern, walnut with a pine base. Cut with F/D #5 skip reverse. Finished with spray lacquer.
  12. Very nice. Good work
  13. Thanks everyone. And thanks again to Alex. Your patterns always make me look good
  14. Finished up another Alex Fox pattern over the weekend. I will finish with a customized frame for a friend but they don't know what they want it to say yet. 1/2" Ash. Cut with FD new spiral #1 and #3.
  15. May the sawdust be with you Jeff.
  16. Very cool. I know what my wife is getting for her next b-day.
  17. Very cool. Remind me the name of those fish? I know I have seen them before. Not in my pond, to be sure. Really interesting to see what constitutes a trophy fish in different parts of the world.
  18. My shop is in a basement bedroom. Freshly painted walls and concrete floor before I moved in
  19. Another awesome project. Thanks Alex
  20. Another one I had to cut when I saw it. Thank you blights69. This was a fun cut and it will hang above my saw for the rest of my days. 1/4 walnut FD 3/0 New spiral
  21. Thanks Everyone. He got a kick out of it.
  22. I believe this is a Charles Dearing pattern. It had been laying on my saw for a few months now while I have been working on a bunch of other projects that I didn't want to do. I cleared all of those out, finished the cutting, and right before I was to start framing I threw my back out and spent a week laying down. First thing I did once I could walk again was make the frame and put it together. This one is for an uncle that I work with. I hear him say this line almost daily to people walking out of his office, so I had to cut it for him when I saw it. 1/8 Cherry, 1/8 BB ply stained ebony for backer, walnut for the frame Cut with FD #3 Ultra Reverse
  23. Nicely done. I have this project on stand-by, once I get done with all of the non-scroll saw projects I have piled up.
  24. Like a lot of the other guys, I am a big fan of the FD UR blades. Once I started using them, I have barely touched any of my regular reverse blades. They seem to have much more control and don't grab as much on the up stroke.
  25. That's great! I hope he catches the bug like all the rest of us. He is off to a great start.
