amazingkevin Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 I've been getting way to many rush jobs and have had my fill of them.Because of this the club is missing out on a lot of pictures which means more to me than the project its self. One customer ran me ragged with 178 texts and would not answer my questions. We finally met and was even more confusing for a lousy $13.00.She needed change so i gave her change for a 20 ,she keeps the twenty and i said something and it got worse so i paid her to take it.please never call again i said to my self.I had a weeks worth of customers like this.I'm stressed.Good thing i have good meds and can sleep it off ,and start fresh the next day.I want to get Christmas stuff going now.No more rush jobs! One lady wanted 3 of these ,gold glitter background white letters.I had to poke a hole in a glitter can as it would not come out.I dripped it all over the 3 backers best i could, and here she is already 2 hours latter after just giving me the job.Wow,She said she'd finish painting them white.LOL just wait till she see's how long that's going to take and let dry and properly position them and glue them, lol She won't be wanting to do this again i can assure you.I stack cut the three from 1/2" ply i had.She gives me $20.00 as that's all she had.Who has work done and can't pay, story of my life. This is the picture she sent me that i blew up on 4 pages of copy paper.then she wanted them on a stand? Honey you have ton answer my questions i send you if you want something special done ,i didn't say that out loud but this is another one that will not answer my questions,?????I hate to be blunt but come on.I even modified it so it looks symmetrical everywhere all in 2 hours. meflick Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 Looks very nice Kevin BUT you have to stop letting people push you into rush jobs, not paying you correctly, etc. As long as you let them - they will. Don't be afraid to be blunt. It will save you a lot of time and effort. If you can't get paid for your time and materials then you are losing money and time which only adds to your stress! Quote
bobscroll Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 Hi Kevin, "You can't please all of the people all of the time", It must be hard for you.....But you have to try and think of yourself, Bless you Kevin! Hope things work out for you, Bob Quote

kmmcrafts Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 Nice work!! I turn off my custom / personalized order option on my site usually Dec. 1st.. but this year has been real busy for me so I turned it off about 2-3 weeks ago.. I'm still getting some custom request but not nearly as many.. I've just started turning some work away.. Last year I just got way too stressed about it.. so I am sticking to my rules I made for myself last year, LOL.. I think the worst people I sell to is friends and family.. They all ask the age old question " How Much" .. If I truly tell them they are like ... Whaaaaat... and think I'm crazy.. yet they want to pay me.. Most times I'd rather just give it to them.. but.. since I've taken on the online selling.. . I typically don't do any orders local for Christmas time.. most know that I am swamped with work and don't bother.. and also they know my site and look up my prices.. don't hurt my feelings either because.. well.. they somewhat understand that this is a business.. I kindly tell them all if they want something.... get with me before I get busy if they want it cheap.. otherwise I'm loosing money to do something out of my way for them at half the cost.. They all seem to understand and respect that.. Quote
WayneMahler Posted November 27, 2017 Report Posted November 27, 2017 I have stopped offering custom orders. The wife well lets just say she got told about it.Gets to be this time of year and everyone wants it yesterrday, just can't happen. Have to draw a line someplace . Quote
ike Posted November 27, 2017 Report Posted November 27, 2017 The last special order I had There was one change after another till I got fed up and I canceled the order. and that was 4 years ago and I don't regret those special orders You can nevr suit them even though it's just what they wanted. I think some people thinks you will give them a discount or won't charge them. NO MORE SPECIAL ORDERS. ike Quote
EarltheScroller Posted November 28, 2017 Report Posted November 28, 2017 Yep, I seldom do custom orders anymore. The only exceptions are for people I know well and know they won't give me a bad time. You say you are a kind hearted person, but that doesn't mean you have to let people walk all over you. There is a difference. I wish you the best! Quote
