wombatie Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 Well I went to the hospital today and the good news is I don't need surgery. My GP said that I had fractured it where the leg and the foot meet and bend........wrong, it is actually fractured very close to the ankle it also has a very large piece of bone chipped off in the same area. She did get the part right were I have torn the ligament. I am to wear the boot for another 4 weeks and then start physiotherapy. So a long process, 3 weeks down 4 to go. Dan Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 No surgery is good news. Looks like your grandpa (GP) was wrong. I didn't know you have a doctor in the family. That is, unless GP stands for general practitioner. wombatie 1 Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted February 8, 2018 Report Posted February 8, 2018 One day at a time, Marg !.....Get well quick ! wombatie 1 Quote

All the best Marge, Bob Yes I am a little like Long John Silver because all of my shoes are a good 1/4 - 1/2 in shorter then the boot. Yes I am managing to get out into the garage and do some scrolling but I can only sit for a maximum of two hours then I have to come in and put the leg up. But at least I can get out there. Take good care Marg. I am having trouble staying upright now Paul, The amount of time I have almost fallen over is ridiculous. Sitting is certainly my better option. Marg Quote
ike Posted February 10, 2018 Report Posted February 10, 2018 Marge be careful with that boot. 5 years ago my wife had a torn legement and had to wera a boot. to make a long story short she stumble over the diirwat thrlllust hold and broke her leg and had to have a rod inserted, so just be careful. meflick Posted February 10, 2018 Report Posted February 10, 2018 Marg - if possible - try to find some shoes that put you on as level as you can be with the boot on the other foot. I recently was wearing a boot for a nerve issue in my foot. When they fitted me for it they said to try and wear shoes close to the same so that it didn't cause you back pain and other issues due to them being "uneven". Also, they said you are more likely to fall as Ike referenced his wife did when they are not putting you on the same level. Glad you can find some time to scroll. wombatie 1 Quote
wombatie Posted February 11, 2018 Author Report Posted February 11, 2018 I have searched through all of my shoes, of which there are not many and only one pair are even remotely close to the same hight as the boot. They will have to do for the next 4 weeks I'm afraid because I am not up to shopping yet. Marg meflick 1 Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted February 11, 2018 Report Posted February 11, 2018 Marg I am glad that you do not need surgery. The boot is awkward and can cause mobility issues but that is better than the alternative. Lets see..... scroller, miss matched height from one side to the other..... wooden shoe heel......could be done DW meflick 1 Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted February 11, 2018 Report Posted February 11, 2018 (edited) Marg make a clog for the other foot to even yourself out or a pair of varifocal glasses they are always good for stepping off thinks I meant things at first until you get used to them. Roly I tried Varifocal, (what we call Multi Focal ) twice. Both times was a hugh disaster, server headaches for 3 days on both occasions. I tried and tried, I won't try again. Terry suggested I go and get some Ugg Boots I told him IT"S SUMMER Marg Phantom Scroller 1 Quote
