GrampaJim Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 I thought I had this all planned out. I liked all my choices in wood types. Than I cut and built it, so far its going OK. Put the first coat of Poly and the antlers (made from Alder) and it got way darker than I wanted. Wood used: Butternut, Walnut, Pine, and Alder. Pattern by JGR. Gonzo Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 Looks awesome to me! Very nice buck! Is it a replica of the buck you got this past season? (Big smile) Quote
spirithorse Posted March 12, 2018 Report Posted March 12, 2018 That's really too bad that happened. It still looks great though so, not a waste of time, wood, or money or anything. God Bless! Spirithorse Quote
wombatie Posted March 12, 2018 Report Posted March 12, 2018 You know what you wanted but to me it looks terrific. Well done. Marg Quote
Bpardue Posted March 12, 2018 Report Posted March 12, 2018 very nice work. One thing I do is I have samples of all the wood in the shop that has a finish on them. This helps me determine what woods will look good together sense wood can change dramatically after it is finished. Quote

(Big smile) No, I am way too lazy to tramp around in the woods looking for them. Than if I got one, I would have to drag it out? Nope, not going to happen. meflick 1 Quote
meflick Posted March 12, 2018 Report Posted March 12, 2018 Nice work Jim. I am sorry it did not turn out quite as you had hoped but it is still very good workmanship. Thanks for sharing. Quote
Scrappile Posted March 12, 2018 Report Posted March 12, 2018 Guess I don't see the problem. I'd be mighty proud of that if I did it. Quote
