  1. I am not looking for another saw, but I do keep and eye on FB marketplace. Just did a quick survey buy entering "scroll saw" in my area SE Wisconsin. I found 17 Hawks/RBI, seven Hegners and Only 2 Excaliburs. Got me thinking that is a lot of Hawks. Did they really sell that many? Are people giving up on them? I don't have a clue how many were sold by each manufacturer, But I would have expected that more Excalibur we sold, then Hegner, and and then Hawk. Or is this just a mid-west thing. Thoughts?
  2. Great service from https://www.ocoochhardwoods.com/ , I ordered on Monday, they shipped on Tuesday, and it was just delivered. Another plus for me, is that I live close enough that they ship with a regional shipping company, that is about 1/2 the cost of UPS.
  3. Why wait - because the youngest is still in high school. Besides I remember cleaning out my parents place when they passed, and I would not want to deny them the same fun (sarcasm)
  4. Thank you. I used Aspen for the white, yellowheart for the beak and talons, walnut for everything else.
  5. As the years of scrolling march on, I was wondering how my grandchildren would remember me. I want to leave them one last project and decided the large eagle by Judy Gail Roberts would be perfect. Over the past few months I completed one for each and have them safely tucked away. Someday when my wife and I are gone, and my sons are emptying out the house the will find the 6 big boxes and instructing for who they are for. Here is a pix of the last one and a pix of the boxes each one is in. I have no plans to quit scrolling, but being 70++ I know we have no promise of tomorrow.
  6. Well done! Your friend will cherished that piece.
  7. My wife wanted a "Bless this home" sign and I could not find on we both liked. I found this pattern for a napkin holder that I changed to a shelf sitter. 5/8" Red Oak and a 3/8" thick Purpleheart for the cross. I thought about putting a painted backer and still might.
  8. I have used alder on some intarsia pieces and liked the look of it. But I thought it had a outhouse smell to it when I was cutting.
  9. Pattern was just released, so I jumped grabbed it.
  10. There are a ton of different sizes (values) of potentiometers. So physical size matters, but the ohm value is more important too. In the old days, you could just run down to Radio Shack and buy one. LOL
  11. Might be where she started, but she is in Canada now.
  12. Lettering and Intarsia is almost all I do. And the Intarsia projects now are only for family - too much work for what I can sell them for.
  13. Sorry, I can't give it away, but we need to support our designers. I suggest you contact Keith at https://sheilalandrydesigns.com/
  14. After 7+ years of making things with a scroll saw, I wish I had kept a record of the pieces I gave to friends and family. My memory of what I gave to who and when, has gotten me into trouble twice with friends, and very often with my wife. Conversations are like "didn't you already give them one" and I go "I don't know" My advice to the newer scrollers (and others too), keep a log of everything. It seems like a waste of time, but you will be glad you did someday.
  15. couldn't have done it without the blades I get from you.
