munzieb Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 Just got Kreg's Box-joint jig. I had some 3/8th Poplar and gave it a try. Things go much better when watching their included DVD. Written directions are lame and sparse. Fingers are nice and snug and there is even a guide that calls out the amount of tongues depending on the width of wood. This was a test piece of poplar so surface was kind of boring. Gave it to my wife for her artistic touch. The lacquer finish made the excellent painting pop! meflick Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 I've considered adding that Jig to my husband's workshop (so I could use it - he probably doesn't need it but I was thinking it would make it so easy that even I could do it! ) Your wife's painting has taken a simple box to a beautiful and stunning piece of artwork. Thanks for sharing. Quote
new2woodwrk Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 Wow, very nice box - thanks for sharing - I've been looking at that jig for a while - still just looking though :( Quote
oldhudson Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 That doesn't look like a Kreg product, but it does look like Incra I-box ????? Quote
Scrappile Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 Yes. that is Incra. The box is beautiful. What a team you and your wife make!!! I love Incra products, except for their table saw fence, was just too complicated for me. I finally sold it. Found our I was more of a measure with the ruler and tap the fence into place... Love their miter gauge though. Quote
munzieb Posted March 16, 2018 Author Report Posted March 16, 2018 Sorry guys you are right. It is an Incra I-Box jig. It took a few practice pieces to get it working right. I needed to zero everything out first. It definitely pays to watch the video a few times. Works good now. I also have their table saw miter. I had to do some mods but I like it for precise miter cuts. As to the Incra I-Box, I found the best price on Ebay. Thanks all for the compliments on the box. It amazes me quickly my wife can paint them. Not so for that #$%&?!! felt. Next box will have to be with better wood so you can see the grain and finger joints. Quote
