Southern Scroller Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 Please point me in the right direction. I've searched lots of different terms but nothing comes up. I know I've seen this before and I've repaired my old one before but it has been so long I don't remember exactly how to go about it. Thank you much. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I'll go to that as soon as my present line gets too short. I still need to find the info to pop the next segment onto the nipple. new2woodwrk and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
Scrappile Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 heat will help, but too much heat will ruin. When I was putting together my dust collection setup, I purchased one of their tools for putting the segments together. The tools are overly expensive for a plastic tool, in my opinion, but they do make life much easier. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
new2woodwrk Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 (edited) When I got my new saw, I had to pop 2 of those suckers on, heres how I did it... First I placed the piece I wanted to attach in hot water - not boiling but hot. I did not use a heat gun because I was afraid it would melt the piece. My caution was well founded as I did use the gun on a separate piece and it melted slightly! I let the piece soak for about 20 seconds or so then positioned it on the main snake (my term for the segmented hose). With one hand holding the saw in place, I pushed the piece on - it took a lot of push pressure to get it to snap into place, Once I had the first one, the 2nd one was much easier Hope this helps Edited April 18, 2018 by new2woodwrk OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Bill WIlson Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 The soaking in hot water thing works. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Southern Scroller Posted April 18, 2018 Author Report Posted April 18, 2018 Thanks all. The hot water gig didn't work for me so I laughed in the face of disaster and broke out the heat gun. With care I heated the nipple on the saw as well as the end segment on the snake. Must have held my mouth just right as it slid right on. Now I'm going to check out loc line and see if this can be avoided. Thanks again. new2woodwrk and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 If I have to repair or replace again ..I think i will buy the tool, it is expensive but those things are hard to work with ! OCtoolguy and new2woodwrk 2 Quote

Bpardue Posted April 20, 2018 Report Posted April 20, 2018 the lock-line pliers I bought off of Amazon only snaps the pieces together and will not separate them Quote
Scrappile Posted April 20, 2018 Report Posted April 20, 2018 Bpardue is correct, I should have mentioned that. You can get the from the site I posted also. I purchase through the Loc-Line sight because it was a few bucks cheaper than Amazon when I bought. Quote
Rockytime Posted April 20, 2018 Report Posted April 20, 2018 I've been using the hot (very hot) water trick and it works. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted April 21, 2018 Report Posted April 21, 2018 I guess I'm either lucky or stronger than others. I just kept pushing and it finally popped on. Ray Quote
