Here is my first true finished project

The plan called for red oak and maple. The maple was more expensive and I had never worked with poplar before on anything so I decided to go cheap and try it. At first I wasn't sure about all the green that was in it but it turned out ok. I alternated the dark and light areas so there was some offset. I had no idea how to go about finishing it. I bought a couple of stains and tried them on scraps but I hated them. So, JT clock maker gave me his suggestion and it worked out fine. So happy I took his advice. Thanks JT.

i never sold anything, what little I make I give away to friends and relatives, so I can’t give you advise, just getting people that want one is a real convenience builder, you should be proud, of course why not you have done an excellent job on it, I meant to ask you who’s pattern is that, thx RJ

Great looking piece! I occasionally sell something but completely agree about not necessarily wanting to make the same thing over and over. I love my hobby and don't want it to turn into work.  Again that is one good looking basket! Or is it two.
