So, I'm a dog lover.  Just can't help it, I was born that way.  We have normally had two dogs, sometimes three.  After my last Dobie died,  two years ago my wife decided one was enough, we have a beautiful Standard Poodle.  She is going to be 5 soon.  I have just kept look at available dogs on the internet and last week came across a beauty.  1 year old lab, been through training, neutered, all shots at a very reasonable price.  So.... now I have a new family member.  Meet Sparky.  The family past family is Chinese and Sparky in Chinese is Ali.  I like Ali better than Sparky so that is what we will use.  They had to part with him because the mother and youngest son were allergic to him... He is a beauty:

Congratulations, Paul!
Beautiful dog!
My wife and I used to have 2 registered, full bred collies. The rough coated or bearded collies just like Lassie and ours
were both female. That was about 8 to 10 years ago.
About 3 weeks ago we got another full bred collie. This one is a male. He had just had his first puppy shots so we have to
do all the training. Man, oh, man, lots of trips outside and early morning wake-ups!
Anyway, enjoy your new companion!
God Bless! Spirithorse

Awesome!!!  We're dog people too (Danes), and having rescued three (one owner surrender prior to him getting sent to the pound, one from a high-kill shelter, and one pup a rescue group found in a field with siblings), I'm a VERY big fan of those who rescue instead of buying.  Nothing against buying, but the rescues tend to remember where they came from, and what they have now.

We have had Ali over a week now.  He has settled in well.  My wife, although she will not admit it, has fallen in love.  He minds, he does what he is told.  He is a GREAT dog.  Our standard poodle is even having to admit that he is fun.  The cat is even getting use to having him around.  Darn he is smart!!  I just told him to go say high to Beamer, our cat, which was cautiously laying about 10 feet away.  He understood, picked up a toy and tried to take it to the cat.  I don't think I have ever had such an intelligent dog.  Not even my dobies...

Congrats on the beautiful pup.  You can never beat a Lab.  I have had several and currently have a 16 yr old black. Chelsea my first lab and Mattie my current are both trained as service dogs (by me).  They train quickly and live to please their owners.  We have four dogs in total and our newest (my BF's) is a beautiful 2 1/2 yr old Rottie.  What a sweetheart.  Has a few quirks we need to work out but she is coming along nicely.
