Scrappile Posted September 2, 2018 Report Posted September 2, 2018 (edited) We have small mountain across the river from me called Rattlesnake Mountain. Something like the tallest mountain in the western hemisphere or something that does not have a tree on it. Use to have Nike Missiles on it, but no trees... Anyway, an old local saying is if there is snow on it before Thanksgiving, we are going to have a hard winter. Now I asked an old Native American once about that. He side he didn't know, he could only tell if it was going to be a cold winter by watching to see how much fire wood the white man brought in........yep.
