I happen to be on vacation right now in Switzerland and today saw some of the most exquisite examples of Inlayed Wood done by a St. Benedictine Monk here in Engelberg. I'm here of course for the scenery in the Alps, but took the opportunity to tour the St Benedictine Monestary. One of the Monks spent his life in prayer and meditation, and in crafting some beautiful artwork. All of us on the tour we're thoroughly impressed. Just Beautiful. When I get back next week I'll download the pictures off my camara and share them with all of you so you can see what I mean.

Which brings up a question... what examples of Intarsia and or Inlayed wood have inspired you?

Anyway, back to vacation.

I have a JGR Eagle hanging in my office. It has been hanging on the wall of whatever house I've lived in since I was old enough to remember it. My Grandpa and his friend made it years ago when I was very young. Up until a year and a half ago, I had no idea how it was made. A co-worker asked me if it was intarsia and I said I had no idea what that was. So I went home, looked it up and a month later I had my first scroll saw.

I am just realizing that I set my new shop up in my basement, just like Grandpa Dutch had it. 🤗
