Asunsell Posted January 7, 2019 Report Posted January 7, 2019 So I’m brand new to scroll sawing but had the opportunity to purchase an almost new jet 22” scroll saw for a fraction of the price. I’ve been having a blast learning and practicing. So here goes my question, so I have been using Olsen blades and have been doing puzzles with a double reverse skip tooth, the problem I’ve had is that the reverse teeth are located so far down on on the blade that they don’t come up above the table on the stroke so I’m not getting the benefit of the reverse tooth and getting quite a bit of tear out. I’ve tried to set the blade as high in the holder as possible but it still isn’t coming up in the stroke. Am I doing something wrong with this saw or do I need to use a different blade, or brand of blade ? Hope this made sense Thanks Adam Quote
NC Scroller Posted January 7, 2019 Report Posted January 7, 2019 Adam it is a knock / flaw on that Jet saw. The simple fix is to switch to Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse blades. With these blades every 3rd tooth is reversed so you get the benefits of a reverse tooth blade even with a short stroke saw. Asunsell Posted January 7, 2019 Author Report Posted January 7, 2019 How about crown tooth blades ? OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Rolf Posted January 28, 2019 Report Posted January 28, 2019 The saw is probably not set up correctly. The upper arm should be parallel to the table. Some people use the back knob to adjust blade tension and screw up the arm alignment. There was an article about that that I can't seem to find. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
jerrye Posted January 29, 2019 Report Posted January 29, 2019 I have the Jet. This is not a setup issue, but is inherent in the saw's design as Scott stated above. I have been hearing that upgrading to Pegas clamps fixes this issue. I am going to get the upgrade clamps and install them on mine. I will report back here if that does indeed fix this. I too have the Jet and I can say that the Pegas Clamps do fix the issue. Also the FD Ultra reverse work regardless. Asunsell, OCtoolguy and jerrye 2 1 Quote
