Because I can't get to my saw, I decided to 'play' at making a Napkin Holder Pattern,

Not sure what it will cut like as I've yet to try, but I'm pretty pleased with myself non the less.

I'll let you know how it works out once I've cut it or if anyone else wants to give it a go, feel free.

It could turn out utter rubbish, but I had fun trying. 🤣

Thanks for the patterns.  I have officially given up trying to design my own.  I was close but each one a tried and cut the napkin didn't fit right or the tang was too week.

With this cog and the other posted I am sure that one will work.

I won't be able to cut til next week as the Papa do list just got a couple of additions.  I do Ribbon holders and my grandson ask for a couple for a fundraiser next week so that comes first and then I will get going as my wife wants a napkin holder for a my daughter.

Thanks again

Brenda, I have perhaps a dumb question. I printed out your pattern and it appears the pattern is somewhere between 1/8" and 1/4" material. The pattern appears made for 3/16" material. Is this so? Is 3/6" BB available in the UK? I don't think I have ever seen it in the US. But then there lots of things I've no seen. I can reduce or enlarge to work with what I have.

Les, I just made a pattern !!  I have no idea of what you speak LOL.  I cut my other one out with ¼" plywood.  I had absolutely no idea that it would convey anything other than I drew a pretty picture. Not even sure if the pattern can be cut as I've not tried it myself yet. 🤣

Your pattern is excellent for cutting from any thickness BB. I was just curious. I will also probably use 1/4".

I ordered a pattern from Inar but cannot print it out. Don't know what I am doing wrong but will keep trying.

Must admit I couldn't print the one I was sent (not from Inar) and he had to send it to me by email as a pdf and only then could it print it out. So you are not alone in these things. xx😱

Nice pattern. I am wondering about the cut tab on the side pattern and the base. Is this cut on a sheet so the figure and fans are both on it? The figure has the tab for the base. Wouldn't an outline of the the side of the holder be outlined and the tab on the bottom if it? I'm thinking of a napkin holder with two sides and a base. I may have completely misread the design. Mmm, you'll have to bear with me, I've read your post several times and not quite sure what you mean. However, my interpretation is.

The 'fans' are cut separately and they fit into the 'green' slot on the lady. You would have to make the 'slot' as big as you need, depending on the kind of wood you use.  The 'tab' at the bottom is part of the 'lady' so I cut they whole thing out in one. I then made the 'slot' in the base fit the 'tab' on the bottom of the lady.   Not sure this helps or hinders.  🙂

Here's a picture, that might make things clearer.

AuHHH! The label threw me. I grew up with napkin holders being U shaped plastic or wood with a bunch of napkins stuffed in between. I was thinking the pattern was cut into one side or both. Haven't seen one of these before. If I could make noise in our apartment I would dig up my scrollsaw from storage and cut a few for gifts and maybe hold one back for our family.  Just saved the pictures as reference. Probably more interesting to wives'. Let's see if I put the fans on the back of a drag car and get red napkins I could get flames coming out the back :) Best I can do for now is learn the graphics programs, design a bit and play with my dream design of a shop at a real house. So glad you asked :) I screwed my face up, stood on my head and couldn't make out a napkin holder :)
Now that Brenda has shown the finished product, I think it is fantastic.
Great pattern Brenda.
