How to reduce noise and vibration of a scroll saw to work in an apartment?

Looking for a house and traveled through SD, Iowa and MO. There were entire areas surrounding the highway that looked like a lake. May keep a bunch of sandbags for machine sound, then use them when the water creeps under the door. RJF

A sandbag on the base of the saw will help control a lot of the vibration.  The saw running is really not a noise problem but dust collection can be.  I tried a shop vac but it was very loud.  I found a small canister type vacuum that even has an on/off button on the top so that I can just touch it with my foot and it is not as loud as the shop vac.

I had not thought of a vacuum cleaner. I have a very nice Filter Queen we have not used for years. I'll have to drag it out. Thanks for the reminder.

I assume you talking about a canister vac. I would wonder about any vac using bags. I once used a bag vac to clean a fire place. The bag blew up and ashes everywhere. Didn't know they make vacs just for ash. From that, I wonder if sawdust would be fine enough to do the same. RJF
