Well, you're in the same boat as every intarsia artist ever in existence until they started... Pick you out a beginner pattern, get some cheaper wood like pine or cedar and give it a shot... You never know; you could be the next Judy Gale Roberts... I was on the fence about it at first too... I was very critical of myself and my projects but other intarsia looked so darn amazing to me that I had to keep at it... I still have MUCH to learn but I'm hanging in there...
