Scrappile Posted April 15, 2019 Report Posted April 15, 2019 I've been seeing videos and info on the Pegas band/scroll saw. I wondering who here will be the first to order. Pre-order is available at a reduced price like they did with their scroll saw (per Bear Woods). I have read good about it. Almost a as good as a scroll saw but you can't do inside cuts. Pretty spendy, and I think a person that already has a band saw could accomplish the same thing with some Carter band saw accessories, they of coarse are expensive too. But if you have money, and looking for a band saw, something to check into. RabidAlien and Scrolling Steve 2 Quote
Sycamore67 Posted April 15, 2019 Report Posted April 15, 2019 I think it is pretty expensive and the blades are also not cheap. It does some good things but.... I have a 10" Rikon with the Carter Stabilizer and it will cut tight corners but not as tight as the Pegasus. However, you could buy 3+ of the Rikon for the Pegasus saw. If you have a specific need for its special abilities, I guess it would be worth it. Quote
kmmcrafts Posted April 15, 2019 Report Posted April 15, 2019 Scott ( Iggy ) needs this to do the puzzles... Looks like he is cutting pretty thick wood with that and seems like it's going quite fast for that thick of wood.. maybe faster than the scroll saw.. Quote
Foxfold Posted April 15, 2019 Report Posted April 15, 2019 May I ask a 'daft' question ? I don't have a 'table top' bandsaw, but is the 'cut' not dependant on the blade ? Or is this machine doing something that even a 'table top' bandsaw can't do ? Quote
tgiro Posted April 15, 2019 Report Posted April 15, 2019 I can do that with my bandsaw and a 1/8" blade. I see no reason to spend $1400 on a saw that will allow me to use a smaller blade. Considering how easy it is to break 1/8" blades, I'd be reluctant to go much smaller. I think most bandsaws are a little to aggressive for the smaller blades. I usually move my belt to the larger (slower) pulley when cutting with 1/8". Quote
WayneMahler Posted April 15, 2019 Report Posted April 15, 2019 Looks like the Pegas is going after a very small niche in the market. They advertise this as being able to resaw wood but there are only special blades they offer. The blades run in grooves of the wheels and I kind of like this feature, but for my money I'm staying with a full sized band saw. I can see where this would fit in with puzzles and such, but still a small market and a hefty price to go along. Quote
