amazingkevin Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 This ones cut from mdf, 1/4" four sheets thick.10" x 15" instead of round. An hour and 5 minutes cut time .the outside was cut with the band saw in a quick minute.i used ,wore out 2 blades as mdf is dirty with fillers and glue .I ended up useing mike's fd-sr-9 scroll reverse 8 ,t.p.i. the other blade was a used one on hand but coarser.I used "RAPID RESIZER "to enlarge and elongate the pattern for a differant effect".www.rapid resizer.com "by patrick.I'd like to thank the two members that got me thru my delemia with the wife .looks like i can scroll again.Thank you Marge and eagledrum 70.My friend that brings me food from the food bank wanted 3 of these ,he allready got two before. He's a giver like me .thank you Grampa for the pattern. This is the first time i wore a mask cutting ,mdf gives me a headache even with a mask.I detailed drum sanded with a dremil the edges. Oges Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 ...This is the first time i wore a mask cutting ,mdf gives me a headache even with a mask... Looks great Kevin, nice sharp and clean cutting there. Not good about the MDF though, take care with it, some nasty stuff in it with its Formaldehyde resins they use to bind it together with. Quote
amazingkevin Posted January 11, 2011 Author Report Posted January 11, 2011 thank you Paul ,Mike and Brett,it was slow go cutting and will try an even coarser blade next time to speed things up.quite noisey cutting ,maybe i'll use a skip tooth as they are more quiet too.I detailed drum sanded with a dremil hand held unit.I would like to do a series of religous sayings for the next craft show comeing up in march .The ladys going to let me in for free out of only 10 people to partisapate. She love our work pattern makers and me!Thanks men! The outsides were band saw cut to save time .My band saw is to loose for accuracy as you can see. These need to be trued up on a sanding disc to get the shape back, more oval. Quote
