crupiea Posted August 9, 2019 Report Posted August 9, 2019 I saw in my dining room right under the fan right by a big window that I leave open all day. I dust it like the average guys does i guess but today thought i would do some deep cleaning in the shop. Got up on a ladder to clean the top side of the fan blade. holy cow!! I live by the ocean so there is a salty sea breeze all the time so that thing was just coated with who knows what, It seriously reminded me of some sort of primordial soup where life came from except it was thick and stuck to the blades . Once I started scraping it balled up into tiny bits so now the blades were covered with tiny balls of creation. man, that was gross. Glad its done now though but honestly I am sort of scared to sit under it. Might grow a horn or tail or something breathing that stuff in. MTCowpoke22 and wombatie 2 Quote
Chiloquinruss Posted August 9, 2019 Report Posted August 9, 2019 Last time I did mine there were these little beady eyes starring . . . . Isn't it amazing what a moving fan blade can attract! Russ Quote

teachnlearn Posted August 10, 2019 Report Posted August 10, 2019 Don't know the quality of your fan. Lived in a apartment with a cheap ceiling fan in the kitchen. Last people smoked. So between the grease and smell of smoke. Took the blades off. Cleaned the grease off, hung the blades from a portable wheeled clothes rack, painted it with a couple of coats of semigloss paint. Able to dust them easy. Wouldn't have painted them, but none of us were fans of the smoke smell. RJF Quote
