Fantastic work, Becky,

You are telling people on the internet that your daughter TOOK A BOAT?

Quote "a boat my daughter took years ago". End QuoteΒ  Shame, shame, shame! LOL

Sorry, I guess I'm just easily amused sometimes.

God Bless! Spirithorse

Great talent. Just a dream for me.

What wood do you like to use.

Have you ever used a entry level burner?

Thanks Larry! I like to use birch plywood. It's very smooth for burning. My husband built me a wood shop so I can cut all my projects. I love the whole process of getting the wood ready to burn. My shop is my haven lol. As far as the burner, I started out with a Walnut Hollow Versa Tool. It was a fine pen style burner and it was good for beginers. I found that it didn't hold it's temperature very well. It took a while to come back up to temp after burning just a little while. It was frustrating. I finally bit the bullet and bought a Colwood Detailer. I love it!! Instant temp recovery and it has a whole slew of tips. Best purchase I've ever made for my projects.

Absolutely beautiful work, Becky,
I know I replied before but, wanted you to know that I should have praised your work
more highly instead of rushing to tease you a little. Glad you took the teasing with no
hard feelings and I hope you take all the kind remarks you are getting to heart because
you are an exceptionally gifted artist.

God Bless! Spirithorse

Scrollcrazy, love the work, but can I ask how you are getting the picture to the wood for burning?

ThanksΒ

My methods are pretty basic. I convert the picture I'mΒ using to grayscale on my computer and print it out. Then I just use grafite paper to trace the outline and most prominate features. Once those lines are on the wood, it's pretty easy to fill in the details. One thing I almost always do is, when I get to the shading, I turn the wood and reference picture upside down. That way you can actually see the shading better. Thanks!
