tbphotos Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 38 pieces of Ebony, Walnut, and Oak. Finished size is 16"x13.5". The toenails and nose were painted because I could not find any wood dark enough for that. The mouth line and whiskers were burned. A 'No-No' I realize that, but that's the way I did this one. Quote
toolbeltman Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 Very nice work Trev....thanks for sharing Quote
Clayton717 Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 very nice, I've use a woodburner to burn details into a couple of my intarsia's, one being the pheasant. A real dark I use is Wenge. If you can get it, it's black when finished and very hard. It a little pricey though. Quote
mikesscrollsaw Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 Looks great! Look at wenge wood it's black and should be dark enough for toe nails Quote
tbphotos Posted February 5, 2011 Author Report Posted February 5, 2011 Thanks for the info on Wenge. I'll try and find some. Quote

tbphotos Posted February 6, 2011 Author Report Posted February 6, 2011 Thanks, all of you, for your kind comments. Kevin, you've made me blush with your kind words. Yes, Grandpa, I think I'm hooked on intarsia and wanting to start another intarsia project in the next few days. I received an email yesterday from a total (lady) stranger who saw my blog. She has been scrolling for years and she also teaches scroll saw seminars at my local Lee Valley store. I asked her to let me know when she's doing another seminar, as I'm wanting to attend. Have a great Super Bowl weekend y'all. Quote
