JimErn Posted December 5, 2019 Report Posted December 5, 2019 Somehow, and darned if I know how, inkscape now opens with "snap to" set to on. I know how to turn it off. What I can not find in preferences is how to set the default to off, anyone know? Quote
Foxfold Posted December 5, 2019 Report Posted December 5, 2019 Never found the permanent 'off' switch for the 'snap' but I just turn it off whenever I'm doing something. Quote
Fab4 Posted December 5, 2019 Report Posted December 5, 2019 Hi Jim Does this help at all Steps Go to File >> Document Properties and click on the Snap tab. Select 'Snap only when closer than:'. If it is already selected, leave it selected. Once you have checked it, close the Document Properties. Go to File >> Inkscape preferences and then locate the Snapping option. ... Use your snapping tool in Inkscape. Fab4 Quote

I went to C:\Program Files\Inkscape\share\templates and right clicked on the default.svg file and opened with inkscape turned off snap to then file>save and it told me it could not save it, so I saved it on the desktop and closed inkscape open win explorer, go to the templates folder renamed the default.svg file to default-old.svg and then moved the desktop defualt.svg file to the folder when I reopened inscape, snap to was disabled - yeah! jollyred, bobscroll and meflick 2 1 Quote

don in brooklin on Posted December 5, 2019 Report Posted December 5, 2019 Thanks for the tip. Worked great. I set my page size to US letter and the display units to inches at same time. Fantastic tip Thanks again\ Quote
