Rockytime Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 I just glue the text to the pattern whoever I want it. Then I glue it to the blank. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
don in brooklin on Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 A lot of the text you see is done by using a Cricut machine. You can cut vinyl letters and sticking them on directly. Vinyl comes in both interior and exterior use. Some is heat transfer type used on t-shirts ect. You can also cut a stencil and then paint. Lot of videos on youtube showing words on the wood. You can also add lettering with a laser or pyrography. OCtoolguy and John B 1 1 Quote
John B Posted December 17, 2019 Report Posted December 17, 2019 I have used this method to make a perpetual trophy (Small Honour Board) for the RFDS Here is a pic of the sample I did before doing the actual thing. It is actually much brighter than the pic and looks real good with a couple of coats of gloss lacquer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERkZfL8lob8 Gordon 121 and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote
Jim Finn Posted December 20, 2019 Report Posted December 20, 2019 I print these out on an inkjet printer and glue in place with white glue and spray lacquer over it. Many coats. OCtoolguy, Gordon 121, don in brooklin on and 2 others 4 1 Quote
Jim Finn Posted December 20, 2019 Report Posted December 20, 2019 I have, in the past, done some decoupage using tissue paper. Tricky but doable. John B, Gordon 121 and OCtoolguy 3 Quote
Scrappile Posted December 20, 2019 Report Posted December 20, 2019 On small items I have used decal that I print. before applying them buy soaking in water a few moments I spray them with crystal clear spray. That keep the ink from running when it gets wet. Once applied and dry, I use a spray lacquer finish over them. Works well. Gordon 121, OCtoolguy and John B 2 1 Quote
John B Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 I have used Iron on transfers before, the type designed for tshirts. I made quite a few dartboard boxes with a design on the doors using this method. Just print them out and iron on like you would a shirt and give a couple of coats of clear over the top.
