kmmcrafts Posted April 14, 2020 Report Posted April 14, 2020 Playing around on the CNC today.. and came up with this.. Might paint inside the carved area to make the details show up better.. but i forgot to tape / shelf liner it first to make painting easier... maybe I'll go make another and this time put the covering on.. spirithorse Posted April 15, 2020 Report Posted April 15, 2020 Very nice, Kevin, I wish I could afford a machine like that to play with. What are the symbols on the left where the stars are normally? Between my vision and my monitor, I cannot see it very well. God Bless! Spirithorse amazingkevin 1 Quote

Yes, without the painting of the carved part it's hard to see what it is supposed to look like.. Here is a screen shot of the 3D model from the CNC software to show you what it supposed to look like.. IF / When I paint it.. Typically I put shelve liner / tape on first and then carve it.. paint it with the liner /tape on then peel it off.. sand it then seal with clear topcoat.. I only get a chance to run this thing about... well Christmas evening 2019 is the last time I run it.. LOL as I made a gift for my Daughter to give to her boyfriends parents.. which was a portrait of the boyfriends Grandpa who had passed away.. Anyway.. I don't run it enough to remember the process.. and I put the cart in front of the horse so to speak.. I actually carved it wrong from what the original pattern was.. Maybe I used the wrong size style of router bit. I'm still learning this thing.. and when I only run the thing 3-5 times a year I'm going to be dead before I get good at it, LOL.. Here is a screen shot of the actual drawing file.. which shows the stars engraved out instead of how I engraved around them out.. Edited April 16, 2020 by kmmcrafts Quote
spirithorse Posted April 17, 2020 Report Posted April 17, 2020 Oops! Sorry I brought it up! With these tired old eyes I thought they might have been a group of cancer ribbons on the diagonal. It's still an awesome project and I still wish I could afford something like that. Good luck with learning the program aspect and good luck with increased sales from another woodworking style. Thanks for the reply and God Bless! Spirithorse Quote
kmmcrafts Posted April 18, 2020 Author Report Posted April 18, 2020 (edited) Okay, I painted the project then sanded the excess off then top coat with some clear.. This is how it came out now.. looks much better with paint Edited April 18, 2020 by kmmcrafts danny 1 Quote
wombatie Posted April 24, 2020 Report Posted April 24, 2020 That is awesome Kevin. Well done. By the way I like it with and without the paint. Marg danny and kmmcrafts 1 1 Quote
