Just jo Posted April 22, 2020 Report Posted April 22, 2020 Hi everyone. I’m pretty new to scrolling but normally work with wood and have a few successful basics up my sleeve but I need to do a metal job snd my hand cutting skills are used up so I bought a 30 tpi Olsen scroll saw blade to cut 0.6 mm metal. however being a painless blade and so very very thin I am having trouble getting it to not pop out of holding ends is there a trick or am I just missing something or probably both. thanks for any advice. I’m baffled OCtoolguy and amazingkevin 1 1 Quote
Denny Knappen Posted April 22, 2020 Report Posted April 22, 2020 It may be something with the blade holders. What type of Scroll Saw? OCtoolguy and amazingkevin 2 Quote
Wichman Posted April 23, 2020 Report Posted April 23, 2020 I have used a scrollsaw to cut metal before. In my opinion 30 tpi is not fine enough and the blade is probably catching on the metal and the clamps just can't hold. Solution 1. sandwich the metal between two sheets of thin plywood. Solution 2. get blades with more tpi, in the neighborhood of 70 tpi. OCtoolguy and amazingkevin 1 1 Quote
LarryEA Posted April 26, 2020 Report Posted April 26, 2020 Your clamp holders may not be flat. As Denny asked, What type of saw? OCtoolguy 1 Quote
nrscroller Posted May 10, 2020 Report Posted May 10, 2020 HI Try lightly sanding the ends of your blades, your holders might be smooth and slippery, that will give them something to bite on. Bill Quote

Fedido Posted May 11, 2020 Report Posted May 11, 2020 I had the same problem with my Dewalt. Replaced the knobs that hold the blade and haven’t had a problem since. Quote
