Welcome to the village from SE Idaho As for setup advise, a foot pedal and magnifier light are two first two accessories I'd recommend. I would also recommend getting a practice pattern, here, and using it just long enough to familiarize yourself with the saw.

No, when I realized the pupil would be very weak, I turned the piece over and applied a drop to the pupil, after cutting it. When I looked at the rest of the eye I applied the superglue, just on that area, before I cut it. I had to use fingernail polish remover to the paper around the pupil in order to get the pattern off the pupil without breaking it. I added the backer, in part, to strengthen these delicate areas.

All finished. Will install tomorrow.

Grey wash, and metallic cobalt blue eye done; with several coats of rattle can shellac. Once the shellac has had plenty of time to dry I'll glue the backer on.

Seven and a half hours and the cutting done. Tomorrow I'll clean the residue off and use a grey wash on the wood, let dry and use glitter paint to highlight the details. I'll use a sliver mirror paper for a backer and I should be done.

The area of the eye is very delicate and I've already used superglue on the backside to reinforce the wood.

The next step will have very delicate areas. I will have to cut a little on one fret and then switch to the adjacent fret to maintain the most stability of the surrounding area

Yep This needs a custom size, the window trim on the outlet side is too close for a standard cover; as long as I'm at it, why not fancy it up a bit?

Just a couple of cuts last night for a cabin, these are test pieces to check the sizing and spacing of openings. 1/8 BB plywood, FD Polar blades ( #1 and 2/0 (I still had the 2/0 chucked up and didn't want to take the time to switch)), no finish yet, pattern on the boot and hat by Steve Good ( I took and outlet surround pattern and added the outlet), the dog paw is by a Facebook artist (I don't remember the name ).

It depends on what you are trying to achieve and what type of stain you are using (dye vs pigment) and the solvent for the stain. So what are you trying to achieve?

How did you position the magnifier and arm? I usually mount the magnifier behind the saw and close to the arm of the saw so that the saw and the arm are both in the way, I have mounted the magnifier to the side and it's not in the way.

I agree with rjweb, call advancedmachinery Monday ( 1-800-727-6553 [email protected] Mon-Fri 10AM-3PM EST website: https://www.advmachinery.com/collections/hegner-scroll-saws To me, sitting here away from the saw it looks like the table needs to be squared to the table ( the markings on the bevel adjustment are notoriously inaccurate ... on all saws) With the blade taken off the machine, can you move either of the bearings ( in the middle of the arms)? Is the movement of the blade consistent throughout the stroke? -
