RabidAlien Posted May 23, 2020 Report Posted May 23, 2020 Lets just say....the Advil is strong with this one. Ana White plans, modded a bit since I hate making drawers. Daughter will just use baskets in the cubby storage below. This sucker is SOLID, it won't be going anywhere! The boxes are made out of 3/4" ply, with a 2x2 rail running down the upper center, offset enough for the slats to fit. The bed can be modded further for a full mattress, I would just cut longer slats to support the middle. Uprights on headboard and footboard are solid, heavy 4x4's. It wasn't a difficult build, but I would caution anyone wanting to make one (or any furniture in general) to get the straightest boards possible, and don't do all of the cuts beforehand to make things easier. It does and it doesn't. Measure cuts as you're building. Still, it was a fun project, even got some sanding/painting assistance from the 11-year-old who's going to be using it. wombatie, Jim McDonald, jollyred and 4 others 7 Quote
