oldhudson Posted August 17, 2020 Report Posted August 17, 2020 (edited) I was making some wheels yesterday and was reminded of a tip I learned a couple of years ago. This may be of help to some of you. Hole sawing goes pretty slow because the gullets are so small the there's no place for the dust to go (its trapped in the kerf). If you drill an escape hole or two along the hole saw perimeter, the dust can escape. The cut goes faster and the saw doesn't get so hot. As you can see from the pic I began my cut, stopped, chucked up a twist bit drilling 'escape' holes, then moved the piece back to the drill press and finished the wheel. dgman Posted August 18, 2020 Report Posted August 18, 2020 I guess it would help if you had two drill presses. amazingkevin 1 Quote
