Hello and thanks in advance. I'm loking to purchase another saw to go with my hawk. I really like the concept of king, excalber, pegas, seyco, and jet tilting head . Which one has the least amount of maintenance, quality accuracy, and least amount of vibration. Thanks.

Speaking only from my situation, if you can't find a good used original green Excalibur that was built in Canada or Taiwan, I would go with a Pegas or Seyco. At this point in time, I think they are the best in that price range with the best factory backing. I've not heard even one negative comment for either saw. I like the rack/pinion adjustment of the tilting head on the Pegas over the Seyco but I would still buy a Seyco if the price was right.

I just bought a Seyco.  The head pivots very smooth, and the digital readout allows you to get the exact angle you need.  There is no play in the pivot system, and it moves freely so there is no need for a rack and pinion.  Plus they are on sale right now!

Same here.  The rack & pinion tilting head is excellent.  Very smooth and stable.  It's unfortunate that Excalibur moved manufacturing, but the Pegas is probably the closest thing to pre-Chinese made Excaliburs on the market.  They seem to get a lot of very good reviews.  If I were buying new today, I would lean heavily toward the Pegas.

Of coarse it's just my opinion so take it for what it's worth.. But with Pegas upgrading the size and quality of bearings they put into their saw I'd say the Pegas is a better quality saw over the Seyco.. Not that the Seyco is not a good saw.. but it uses the same inner parts as the original excalibur so it's a good saw.. But Pegas is just a bit better of saw... The down side to some is the table size on the Pegas is smaller than the Seyco.. But for additional cost you can purchase a larger table.. unfortunately that puts the price well over the price of any of the others.. again.. better clamps, bearings etc..  All are great saws.. with the exception of the Newer ( 2017 and newer ) Excalibur.. stay far away from those unless you're mechanical inclined and the saw is free or close to that, LOL

I might also say if you choose the Pegas.. I strongly recommend talking to @Denny Knappen here on the village.. he is a distributor for Pegas

Just an FYI, Denny is currently down with the dreaded COVID-19 virus. I don’t have any other info. I read this on the other forum.

Really sorry to hear that... I had emailed him a several days ago and no response.... Knowing the service he gives I was afraid something was wrong... He will be in my prayers.... My wife had it a couple weeks ago... least that is what we all thought including the doctor,,, even if the test said negative....  She has COPD and Diabetes so we were very worried,,, but she is recovering ... only has to get her taste and smell back to normal... I will be glad when she does, the food has been overly spicy for me lately!!!🥴

I had noticed he hadn't posted in a while and I almost said something the other day.. But I've been really busy and haven't really read through the topics like I normally do so I wasn't sure if I had missed him in those topics I haven't really read..

Thank you for informing.. I also haven't been on the other site in quite a while now..

Will be sending prayers for him..

I have a Seyco and it is a good saw with plenty of table area. I like the table depth in front of the blade, too; 7 3/4". It tilts just fine, but a crank would make it a tad faster and easier to set the blade angle; not a huge issue. Be aware that it only tilts 30 degrees (in the manual) but I got mine to tilt to 37 degrees with a little filing. I have nothing to compare it to, but it has 92 bowls on it with only one issue: I think the arms that all those saws have, where the blade gets locked in, have too much sideways play in them. Mine measured .028", so I made some plastic washers to fill the gap. It seems to cut a tad nicer now. I'd love to run a King or Pegas to compare them.
