Inkscape is driving me crazy!

How do I turn off the snap to edge/corner thingy ? I'm trying to put four small rectangles side by side in a larger object. they keep "sticking to each other"! I yelled STOP IT but they didn't listen. LOL

Does this make sense ?

Top corner is the snap on and off tool.

Or in document properties.  Look for snap and and set to zero.

Thanks Don! I don't have that  second line tool bar, but I found a way in document properties.

I think that is a version 1.01

Plus I use the custom view option plus I use the dark theme (edit preference > interface > theme )

Another way of doing it is to click on the View icon
Go to Show/Hide
Uncheck the Snap Controls Bar
