In the past, I have been asked if I have ever done any woodworking that was a strange or odd project.  I could think of one. My son had cut a small burl from one of the trees growing in his yard.  It was only about the size of a baseball. He gave it to me with the instruction "to make something out of this". I thought about it for about three months when I finally decided that about the only thing I could make with a piece of wood this size was a  little  character.  I carved the Old Moonshiner. There is no stain on this piece--his tan is from working outdoors!

He now has an easy desk job-as a paperweight!  😉
