My Christmas project is a work in progress, my most ambitious piece, a portrait of my parents. I had attempted making a pattern for this, close to two years ago and then left it sitting.  Now that I have gained a little more experience, I have picked it up again; but ended up starting from scratch. In the meantime, I have learned, indeed, that I do need not to divide areas in as many parts as I once thought.  I am not sure how it will turn out, or whether I might not chicken out at some point and leave it unfinished.  But, here we are… Wish me luck!

For the skin I have chosen basswood, the hair is walnut edge in a mix of shades, Aspen for my father.  The glasses, I am hoping to coat with some metallic paint, when it is all said and done.  Tackling the inner frame today or tomorrow.

Scrollerpete said it correctly when he said THIS IS ART!
The only thing I can say that I don't like much is the Walnut oil finish
but, that is just my opinion. Just a little dark for my taste.
Everything else is fantastic! You did a marvelous job of seeing an
image and making an outstanding pattern and then all the cutting, shaping,
sanding, etc.

Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse
