My favorite wood provider is Ocooch Hardwoods (www.ocoochhardwoods.com/scroll-saw-lumber) out of Wisconsin.  I have been using them for the last 18-19 months.  I have worked with Jason and Ethan to place standard and custom cut orders for all sorts of wood.  They provide prompt feedback for custom requests.  Selection of exotic and more typical woods is great with pricing that is better or comparable to all other providers.  Billing is straight forward with credit card or PayPal.

They do have provide great service and product.  I've purchased from them also their boxes of "Second" and I was blown by the amount of great scroll saw wood it was.

I really like Cherokee Wood Products, great wood and great service...  However I priced some wood from them, then tabulated the same order from Ocooch.  the price for the wood per board foot was the same,,, but the shipping from Cherokee was much higher than from Ocooch, which surprised me.... Cherokee is in Calif.... Ocooch is in Wisconsin,  I live much much closer to Cherokee.. they both ship UPS but Cherokee shipping was $9 more than Ocooch..

Paul, I'd call Chris and question the charge. They may have made a mistake. That's an area that they really try hard to keep down.

More than likely, being they are in good Calif.,  there are some kind of additional charge/tax so the gov can get more money to blow..
